Islamic Relief was founded in 1984 in the United Kingdom and currently works in over 30 countries providing support to those in need regardless of race, religion, ethnic, or political affiliations. Because of its existence in Indonesia, Islamic Relief was able to respond in Aceh just one day after the Tsunami struck in 2004. Since then, Islamic Relief has constructed houses, schools, health clinics and numerous livelihood projects aimed at supporting the recovery of over 100,000 Tsunami-affected people in Aceh.
Islamic Relief urgently seeks to hire a committed and experienced person for the following position:
Project Coordinator ( Disaster Risk Reduction ) 1 Position, Based in Padang/Jakarta
The DRR Coordinator will be based in Jakarta (initially 06 months in Padang) with extensive travel to program areas in Aceh, West Jaya, West Sumatra and Banten. DRR Coordinator would be responsible to develop Disaster Risk Reduction programme throughout Indonesia.
The main functions of the post are to help the team to assess, plan, implement,
monitor and evaluate DRR interventions and secure funding from institutional donors in this specific area.
Key roles/responsibilities:
· To be responsible for the planning, organisation, budget management, reporting and implementation of the DRR project as per approved
proposal, log frame, plan of action and budget
· Supervise project staff to ensure that project goals are met
· Prepare narrative and progress reports for Head of Programme
· Liaise with other NGOs, relevant government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure a coordination of effort and lesson sharing
· Supervise baseline or disaster risk mapping studies and develop risk reduction work plans
· To be responsible for the representation of Islamic Relief to partner organisations, donors, government, line-agencies and other NGOs in relation to the project
· Co-ordinate with other sectors for sharing information and lessons learnt
· Ensure the quality and maximum of impact of the disaster risk reduction project
· Be responsible for regular donor reporting and for the budget follow up
· Act as focal person for all management aspect of this project
· Prepare staff development plan and conduct staff appraisal
· Other duties as required.
Experience, skill and qualification required:
· Knowledge and experience of working with disaster risk reduction, preparedness and development issues and a good understanding of
relevant humanitarian and policy issues.
· A proven track record of effective programme and people management.
· Demonstrated experience and high level of competence in most of the following sectors
- Advocacy and public awareness rising
- Training on disaster management
- Knowledge on PRA/PLA approaches
-CBO capacity building/training.
- Coordination between government departments and CBOs
- Institutional strengthening
- Proven experience of managing a high workload and multiple priorities
- Knowledge, sensitivity and experience of the dynamics of national partner organisations and role of the Government, INGOs and UN agencies in humanitarian settings
· A Master’s degree or higher level university degree
· Strong facilitation, coordination skills and representation skills
· Excellent spoken and written English language skills
· Analytical and strategic planning skills
· Proven numeracy and financial management skills
· Adaptable, flexible and confident representation skills
