IOM Yogyakarta is looking for Construction Assistant – Field Supervisor according to the term of reference below. Position Title : Construction Assistant – Field Supervisor
Duty Station : Garut, West Java, Indonesia (Field Based)

General functions:
Under the direct supervision of the Construction Coordinator and the overall supervision of the Project Manager/ HoSO, he/she will be responsible for the following:
1. Site supervision of construction activities, technical assistance and assembly processes
2. Site identification and inspection of beneficiaries and construction related activities
3. Conduct quality control including review of materials, labor, and ensure IOM project standards for construction are being applied. Where necessary, provide recommendations for improvement, especially focusing on technical assistance and supervision provided on site.
4. Maintain close coordination with the contractor/partner site supervisors for the construction progress, quality and materials at warehouse.
5. Report opportunely to the IOM Construction Coordinator, any issues may occur in relation to the performance of technical assistance.
6. Work in coordination with beneficiaries, community leaders and representatives to facilitate the intervention and activities being implemented in the selected locations
7. Maintain accurate records of daily progress report by using IOM standard construction monitoring tools and ensure that all data is entered into the construction database. Daily reports will be provided to the IOM construction coordinator. Weekly reports and input for the project regular reports are necessary.
8. Ensure that all field based IOM and partner staff complies with IOM’s Operational Guidelines, including the Code of Conduct.
9. Assist in undertaking initiatives in promoting IOM’s image & activities in the region.
10. Participate in official meetings, appointments and travel as required.
11. Ensure that IOM field construction staff regularly updates progress data on field construction into the shelter database as per IOM requirements, while ensuring that data is complete and accurate.
12. Accompany the project manager, or other international staff on visits to IOM sites, or other locations as required during assessment, fact finding or other work-related trips within, and when necessary, outside the regular operating areas.
13. Report to the IOM construction coordinator or Project Manager, where necessary, on any respective constraints and issues encountered in the field and solutions provided.
14. Perform other duties as assigned by line manager or HoSO.
Desirable qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architecture or alternatively a combination of or alternatively, a combination of relevant training and experience in the project management field. At least one to three years experience in programme activities particularly in infrastructure and construction. Previous experience and ability working closely with communities/ beneficiary and partner organizations (NGO, University) is a distinct advantage.
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and maintain day to day tracking up-to-date. Good communication skills. Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, respect for diversity and creative thinking. Ability to lead, coach and work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. Possess strong organizational and communication skills; detail oriented, committed, efficient and flexible.
Good command of English. Sundanese of an advantage.
